Press Kit - State of Romance
Romance is alive and kicking! Today's generation of couples and singles are a new breed. Many have experienced love at its worse before ever leaving home, mostly through their parent's divorce or separation. This has spurred a new, stronger desire to make their own relationships work. Unfortunately, couples and singles are also faced with larger obstacles than previous generations. Divorce rates continually rise, affairs seem to have become second nature and the Internet, while a new way to find love, can also be the most damaging to some relationships. Even with these love-traps, maybe even because of them, the pursuit of a true happily ever after has reached an all time high. One thing does remain true though; the state of romance is changing.
Long distance relationships are on the rise
Due to our current military climate, couples have found themselves, many for the first time, across the globe from their loved ones. A source for encouragement, strength, support and new ideas to keep the romance alive through the many miles that may be separating them is now more important than ever.
Age gap romances are more widely acceptable
Public opinion towards relationships with older woman/younger men and visa versa are changing, and changing quickly. Whether it has to do with more celebrity May/December relationships, movies on the subject or just a general agreement, one fact remains: love has truly become ageless.
Online dating at an all time new high
In a Lovingyou.com poll, 2,964 visitors were asked, "Have you ever fallen in love with someone you met online?" 78% answered yes! With the stigma of meeting someone online gone, dating sites have consistently remained some of the highest traffic sites online. In fact, an average of 40.7 million Americans per month visited at least one personals site last year (twelve months ending in November 2003), according to comScore Media Metrix. With so many online matches, the quest to keep these burning romances hot has grown enormously. In addition, solid and practical advice for finding Mr. or Miss Right among the ever growing sea of choices is more important than ever.
"I've been a dedicated viewer of Lovingyou.com since my first relationship back in 1997. You have grown a lot and I'm happy because you helped me from my first love to my current fiancé. You had answers when I was in doubt and gave me something to do other than wait formy boyfriend's phone calls. He lived in France and it was hard to be so far away, but you made him feel closer and we both thank you." -Anonymous Reader
"I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this site. My boyfriend is currently away (for 4 months) with the military, and this site has given me ideas, and quotes and poems that I can send to him. I just wanted to say thanks for providing an excellent service!" -Wanda
