Runaway Together

Have you ever had the desire to just drop everything and run away with your sweetie, even if it's for just one day? If so, then this date idea is tailor-made for you. The idea is to just forget about all your worries and run away together for the day.

It is best experienced without any planning but, if you have children, that may not be possible. One solution is for both of you to take the day off work, drop the kids off to daycare, or school, as normal and then take off together.

Date Idea

Set a budget of how much you would like to spend.
If needed, arrange for someone to take the kids for a day.
Grab your sweetie and head for the local train station.
Randomly choose a destination within your budget and take the first available train.

Variations

Make believe you are reporters for a romance magazine and interview the local residents. See what interesting facts or stories you can find out about the place. Write down the main questions you want to ask on the train journey over there.
Another variation is to make it a backpacking experience where you pack lunches, drinks and anything else you might need for the day. Try to spend as little money as possible at the actual destination.
See how many places you can visit in one day based on your budget. Depending on the type of ticket you purcase, you may be able to break up the journey and stop off at different towns along the way.
