Get out the potatoes and a 3" to 4" long blade paring knife. |
Get out your favorite miniature and small cookie cutters ready. Get brown paper sandwich or grocery bags for your first project. |

Select fabric paints for use on fabric. Select the type of paint needed for your project and a sponge brush works nicely. |
Cut your potato in half creating a flat surface. Press the cookie cutter into the potato half way. |

Then, cut away the outside excess potato away (as shown). Prepare all the potato stamps. |
Store the stamps in a cake pan half filled with ice cold water. Place the cutout stamp face down into the water. Keep refrigerated when not using. |

Place a medium-thin layer of paint on a plate or flat cleanable surface. |
Ready to stamp: Wipe the water off the stamp and press the water out onto a flat towel. |

Now, press the stamp into the paint (or brush on with sponge brush) and press onto paper bags. The country style test bags will make nice gift bags and let you perfect your technique. |
