5 attention-getting body language cues
by Jessica Padykula

Short of yelling across a crowded bar or wearing an "I'm single and looking" T-shirt to a party, there aren't too many subtle ways to show a guy you're interested. And since waving your arms like an air traffic controller might frighten a potential suitor and sending a note is, like, so high school, what are your options?
Body language expert Janine Driver shares some body language cues (that do not involve waving or flapping of arms) that will make him sit up and take notice.
1. Stay awhile
Kick off your shoe. No, not at him, but rather a subtle hooking of the shoe off your foot indicates that you aren't going anywhere. If he feels that you are enjoying his company, chances are, he'll stick around. The same goes for outer layers of clothing. Remove them (i.e. cardigan or suit jacket) to show you're there to stay.
2. Remain open
A lot of times we don't even realize we're giving closed-off, not-interested signs. But every time we cross our arms, fold our hands in our laps or even hold a drink directly in front of our bodies, the chances of him sticking around are slim. All these are negative cues that repel potential suitors. When you hold your drink, hold it off to the side, Driver says. If it's right in front of you, it serves as a shield, shielding you from potential advances.
3. Accent your best features
If you have great legs, show them off. Slowly crossing then uncrossing them is a great way to draw attention to a feature you feel confident about. If you have gorgeous skin and a pretty face, draw attention to it. Touch your face lightly, graze your fingers against your pouty lips... you get the idea.
4. Smile!
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but it's harder than you might think to keep a natural smile on your face, rather than a plastic, fake-looking one. Or worse, a blank or bored look. Even if all your friends seem to have hooked up with someone, try not to stand around looking bored. A smile will attract more attention than a yawn or blank stare.
5. Face the right direction
Driver says there are three areas of your body that should be facing the person you want to attract. These include what she refers to as your "neck dimple" which is the shallow indent at the base of your throat. You should also face your belly button and, ahem, "naughty bits," as Driver calls them, towards him, too. As for the neck dimple, do your best to show it off. Play with your necklace; touch your neck, etc. For belly button and naughty bits, simply make sure you have them turned toward whomever you are trying to attract.
