Romantic movies are synonymous with "chick flicks" because they're usually filled with emotional turbulence -- a woman's drug. But when you're in a long-distance relationship, both parties experience a longing for their faraway love. Here are my picks for the top three long-distance love movies. Sleepless in Seattle
This 1993 classic, based on An Affair to Remember, stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan and is directed by the late Norah Ephron.

This is THE quintessential romantic movie about true love that knows no bounds. This 2004 masterpiece (yea, I said it) stars Ryan Gosling (aka G-d) and Rachel McAdams. The duo's on-set chemistry parallels only Brangelina's in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Dear John
This is another great one by Nicholas Sparks from 2010. The story, starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum, follows the lives of a soldier and the love of his life as they exchange letters after he's deployed.

In an age of emails, texts, FaceTime and Skype, it's nice to see some traditional forms of communications like writing letters and actually talking on that phone you carry in your purse.
