Besides eating a healthy diet filled with whole foods and exercising, there are several simple lifestyle modifications that you can make to boost your energy naturally. You’ll feel better, look better and get more out of each and every day!

Re-charge your batteries!

Cut back on caffeine

Coffee provides you with a quick and easy pick-me-up, but only for a short amount of time. As a natural diuretic, drinking too much coffee can lead to dehydration and fatigue. If you need your morning cup o' Joe to get your day going, no problem -- just switch to drinking herbal teas the rest of the day instead of reaching for the coffee pot. They are caffeine-free, super-healthy and really delicious!

Go outside

Fresh air and sunshine are proven to be very uplifting. Go for a walk on your lunch break, sit outside for 20 minutes or simply smell flowers in your garden in between chores.

Oxygenate your body

Yes… breathe! Take deep breaths and slow inhales, preferably through your nose and bring the air all the way down to your belly button, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. With each breath, you should feel your body perk up and become reenergized.

Live in color

Wear bright colors, such as red, fuchsia, orange or yellow to motivate, energize and lift your spirits. Adding bursts of color to your surrounding space can be as simple as putting a colorful bouquet of flowers in your office or room or placing some vibrantly colored bath towels in your bathroom.

Aromatherapy is a proven way to refresh your body and your mind. Choose energizing scents, such as bergamot, eucalyptus, geranium, rosemary, peppermint or lemon. Add a few drops of pure essential oil to the running water as you fill your bath or simply just open a bottle of essential oil and sniff it!

Sleep more

Create a nighttime ritual and make sure to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Maintaining a consistent sleep cycle will help you sleep more soundly and increase your natural energy during the day. Humans are creatures of habit, so you should create and follow a healthy bedtime routine every day.

Drink water

Fatigue is often brought on by dehydration, so it is very important to drink at least eight glasses of water each and every day. If you dislike drinking plain water (I do, too), jazz it up a bit by adding a few fresh cucumber slices, lemon or lime wedges or fresh herbs such as lavender or mint to each glass. Yummy!

Get creative

Creativity allows your left brain to rest and fires up your right brain. Creativity refreshes your mind and relaxes your body all at the same time. Do something creative with your hands like garden, paint, cook or build something!
