Be Happy And Healthy
Express your emotions
People who suppress their emotions can end up being both physically and emotionally unhealthy. Allow yourself to feel all the positive and negative emotions in your life without shame or guilt. If you are happy, really feel it! And if you aren't so happy, you shouldn't hold it inside either. Suppressing negative emotions (such as anger or sadness) can lead to depression, anxiety, stress and irrational thoughts and actions. Just be sure to channel your feelings productively.
For clarity, focus and emotional health, practice meditation, yoga, deep breathing or other forms of relaxation. Daily meditation allows you to concentrate, heal and find peace of mind, energy and faith.
People are social beings and not meant to live in solitude. Establish a group of trusted friends for social support and interaction. If you are new to your area or are having trouble meeting new people for some reason, join groups and organizations that are associated with some of your favorite hobbies or interests.
Enjoy your alone time
We aren't contradicting what we just said. Though it's important to collect friends, it's also important for your emotional health to enjoy some time alone too. You should be comfortable enough with yourself that you don't need to be constantly entertained by others. Some solitude is healthy.
Focus on the positive
Instead of dwelling on the things that are going wrong in your life or focusing on the items that you don't have, learn how to be grateful for all your blessings. Write down a list every morning of the people, places and things for which you are grateful. You'll have a much better day when you realize all the positivity in your life.
Avoid black or white thinking
Avoid black or white, or all or nothing, lines of thinking. Thinking in absolutes sets you up for disappointment and doesn't allow you to learn about the balance and joy that can be found in the middle ground.
Don't sweat the small stuff
Don't get so emotionally down when small things go wrong in your life. Every little setback isn't the end of the world. Don't sweat the small stuff. If something negative happens that is out of your control, let it roll off your back. If you made a mistake, learn from it and make better choices next time.
Foster your creativity
To stay emotionally healthy, you need to explore your passions and foster your creativity. Identify your true interests and create a plan about how you are going to pursue them. Foster your creative side by immersing yourself in art, culture and new experiences.
Respect and accept yourself
Accept yourself unconditionally. No one is perfect. If you truly accept yourself, then you'll be much happier and even more willing to accept others. You should also respect and love yourself enough to surround yourself with positive relationships and situations.
Laugh loud and often
Laughter is good for both your physical and emotional health. Laughing will give you an instant sense of joy. It can also help in tense or stressful situations, give you a more positive perspective and provide a sense of hope. Smile and laugh often. Even if you force yourself to laugh or smile in some circumstances, it will affect your overall mood. Additionally, taking healthy risks from time to time and learning how to manage your successes as well as your failures will help you to stay emotionally healthy.
