Seriously Effective

More bang for your buck
Gym-Pact, an iPhone application, tracks your gym time. It knows when and what time you're at the gym and if you miss, you will pay up.
When you first sign up with Gym-Pact, you must give the number of times per week you're willing to go to the gym. If you ditch any of those days or don't go to the gym as much as you promised, then you have to pay money. You can barter $5 or $10 or more, but you will pay if you miss.
If you do fulfill the amount of times a week you say you will go to the gym, then you actually earn money in return. So, just by fulfilling your fitness resolution completely with no cheating, you can make money off of it.
You must be at the gym for at least 30 minutes for a visit to count. If you're there for a shorter amount of time, then guess what? Yep, you're going to pay.
App-lovers have raved about this saying the 30-minute session gives them more of an incentive to work out. One gym-goer even said she goes more than promised, "I initially committed for three times a week...What I've actually found has happened is I'm going every day of the week."
The fact that you can raise the financial stakes to increase your gym motivation gives this app a wildly successful rate, which the app boasts is between 80-90 percent. Let's be honest; in this country besides money being a top motivational factor in life, what else is? Vanity. Ok, maybe health, too.
