Time To Get Naked-Faced
Nude makeup galore
Naked eyes and nude lips were everywhere at last night’s Golden Globes. Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron looked like those Ralph Lauren ad models, oozing naturally flawless skin with warm apricot and strawberry shake colored cheeks and lips. They must have gotten great sleep the night before because they didn’t wear a stitch of bottom eyeliner and their peepers were still popping. Almost everyone looked like they spent the last month at the spa — so rejuvenated.
Lea Michele, Emma Stone and Kate Beckinsale were stunners with their smokier eyes in combination with a super light, flesh-toned lip and very muted cheeks. Fair ladies Michelle Williams and Kate Winslet opted for the low-maintenance look with a subtle flush of cherry blossom blush and lips.
Side note: Not everyone got the naked face memo. Knockout Angelina Jolie, (along with Dianna Agron and Claire Danes) went with the classic, yet modern bright red lip. Although, Angelina is Angelina Jolie, so she can basically wear whatever makeup she wants and still look jaw-dropping gorg (trend or no trend).
Get the look
How can they look so incredible? Having a professional makeup artist probably helps. But, for those of us who will be attempting the DIY Golden Globes look at home, the key is to spend the most time on your canvas. Your skin needs to look as even-toned as possible (try the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. It will make you look photoshopped, in the good way). Also, invest in the perfect under-eye concealer; find one that really brightens and has light reflector features (I like YSL’s Touche Eclat).
Once the foundation has been laid, it's time to get tickled pink… or peach. The trick to looking like a barefaced, Golden Globe girl is to match your blush and lip color (Stila’s Convertible Color in Gerbera is my go-to). Whether wearing pink, rose or peach, make it look as uniform as possible. The light eyes only need a base shadow in a matte champagne cream color. Add dark brown or black liner to the top lid only and then finish the look with two coats of mascara — none on the bottom lashes!
Award season trends come and go, but this year’s look will always stay in style because as our mothers always say, "Less is definitely more."
