Stay In Control

Don't deny yourself
We never seem to learn this one fully, but denying yourself of anything never quite produces the results we were hoping for. Just think about it. If you've been looking forward to the holidays all year like most people do, you've probably given at least some thought to all the yummy food at all those holiday parties. If you try to deny yourself any food pleasure this season, you're more likely to binge at a holiday party. Instead of denying yourself, learn the art of moderation. If you want that gingerbread cookie, go ahead and eat it! There's no reason you can't enjoy everything the holiday season has to offer; you just have to stay in control at those holiday parties.
Eat a snack before
You'd never drink on an empty stomach, right? Attending a holiday party on an empty stomach can have similar negative effects! If you're heading into an aromatic room filled with holiday goodies and you haven't eaten in a few hours, you're heading into a very tempting situation. Do yourself a favor and eat a small snack before you head to that holiday party, and that way you'll be a bit full and less tempted to fill up on fattening foods.
Drink up!
No, no, we're not talking about alcohol, ladies! We're talking about water. If your stomach is growling and you're totally tempted to eat that second piece of cake, grab a glass of water. Doing so will help distract you from your hunger, and over the course of the evening, will fill you up.
