Work It Off

If there’s anyone who knows about breakup stress, it’s Kim Kardashian! This week, all the world has been focused on Kardashian’s divorce (after only 72 days of marriage). We’re all wondering what happens to the ring, what the pre-nup looked like and what happens to the wedding gifts. But how many of us are wondering how Kardashian (and all other women, for that matter) deal with the heartbreak/possible depression that can follow a divorce or breakup?
After a breakup, working out can really help you maintain a healthy state of mind and give you a killer body to top it off, so we consulted Lindsay Brin, fitness and nutrition expert and star of the best-selling Top Trainers DVD, to find a five-minute workout to blast away the stress.
Cross Jumping Jacks
Cross Jumping Jacks are a spin on the traditional jumping jack, Brin says. To do them, start by crossing your feet, right in front of left, and then alternate with every jump. Start out with your hands on your waist. Complete 35-40 reps in one minute.
Repeat cross jumping jack steps noted above, but this time add movement with your arms. With every jump, swing your arms above your head, as you would to complete a traditional jumping jack. Complete 35-40 reps in one minute.
Cardio Squats
To complete a Cardio Squat, stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Squat down in quick controlled movements. Complete 35-40 reps in one minute.
Complete one more set, but this time try balancing your arms straight out in front of you. Keep your arms steady. Complete 35-40 reps in one minute.
Rotating Squat Jumps
In order to complete Rotating Squat Jumps, perform a squat to either your left or right side, and quickly jump and rotate into a squat facing the other direction. Complete 20-30 reps in one minute.
Let that frustration out, ladies!
